In Defense of TA

In Defense of TA

The Sunday Daily News of Brooklyn
Sunday April 20, 1975

The Transit Authority is being lambasted for an "arbitrary" and "public-be-damned" attitude in its abrupt announcement that the Culver Line shuttle will shut down next month. It would have been better public relations to have forewarned the community, but consider these offsets:

First, TA will offer free transfers on buses which parallel the present elevated route.

Second, the closing will obviate a $1 million rehabilitation of the line and save almost $850,000 in annual operating expenses.

An agency that can come up with economies like these deserve bouquets, not brickbats.
